I am a member of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia having studied with Dr. DoAnn T. Kaneko, L.Ac., Ph.D. O.M.D. creator of Shiatsu Anma, Aj. Pichest Boonthumme and Homprang Chaleekanha, Traditional Doctor, Herbal Pharmacologist, Thai Ministry of Public Health. All licensed massage therapists are initially trained in Swedish, Trigger Point, Deep Tissue so those modalities may be accessed as well. The studio offers clients the ability to relax in superior comfort on tatami mats while experiencing therapeutic treatments rooted in Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and Thai healing arts.
Japanese bodywork treatments are based in Chinese Medicine that focus on the flow of vital energy called 'Qi' that courses through the body in a 24-hour period. I will use a six-pulse assessment and an examination of your tongue to customize bodywork for your specific needs based on patterns that change day-to-day season-to-season so rarely will sessions be the same.

Northern Style Thai Bodywork (nuat phaen boran thai, or traditional Thai massage) is an ancient energy-based healing system that combines acupressure, reflexology, and assisted yoga postures. Treatment effects are enhanced when the patient is fully relaxed and breathing deeply. This traditional healing practice stands in sharp contrast to western massage therapies, in which the patient is normally resistant to the massage.
Traditional Thai massage uses no oils or lotions, and the recipient remains clothed during a treatment. There is constant body contact between me and client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension. I will use thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement on the body of the recipient. In this process, joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being. For more information on nuat, go to Thai Healing Alliance International
